You made it! You now have all the information you need to use the number system in chord charts.
You have reviewed a large amount of information, some of which may have been brand new information for you. To help you going forward, there are two things you need to memorize to successfully use the system.
- The notes in the Chromatic Circle
You will need to memorize all of the notes in the Chromatic Circle, as they are what make up the scales. The good news is that there are only 12 of them and you already know the seven of them (the first seven letters of the alphabet).
- The Major Scale Pattern (W-W-H-W-W-W-H)
Once you know all the notes in the Chromatic Circle, you will be able to find the notes in any scale by applying the scale pattern.
That's it! If you know those two things, you can work out what the numbers mean for any song we play.
If you have any questions about anything related to the number system, please contact Joel on Facebook Messenger, email, or text. Thank you!
